Beach with a blue flag...
We are talking about the most important urban beach on the archipelago. One of the most important characteristics of the beach is the natural lava reef which protects all beach users from the strong currents and waves. In front of and beyond the reef exists very important forms of sea life. There is a wide and lively boulevard with terrazas, restaurants and shops which goes up to the rocky coast part of La Isleta. Beside the excellent sail school situated in the Royal Club Victoria, La Puntilla quarter, the surf, bodyboard and windsurf enthusiasts have many of possibilities for practicing in Las Canteras (the Barra and Cicer parts of the beach for the first two and the whole area after the reef for the windsurfing)..
How to arrive...
It is very easy to arrive at Las Canteras beach. The situation along the coast up to La Isleta zone makes it easy to arrive practically with any of the city bus lines which have their end stop nearby. From the upper part of the city, you are recommended to take bus number 3 and from the centre part, lines 1, 2 or 12 which are the most rapid ones. If you arrive with the suburban bus line, Global, to San Telmo or Santa Catalina station the same lines are available. |
